Diagnosis
Following an injury your practice will stabilise and treat your pet for shock, blood loss or other concerns before taking x-rays. If surgery is required, our surgeons will liase with your practice and arrange a mutually suitable time for surgery.
We understand this can be a distressing time which is why our surgeons will discuss treatment on the morning of surgery to explain the plan for surgery and the ongoing care required afterwards. Additionally our information sheets contain some useful tips on what to expect and do in the weeks following surgery.

Surgery
Fractures can vary hugely in complexity and as such there are a number of techniques that our surgeons use to stabilise and fix the fracture site. These will often involve metal implants such as plates and pins/wires and recovery will require a period of strict rest to ensure that the area heals appropriately.
