Since graduating in 1990, Alasdair has developed extensive experience in referral-level small animal soft tissue surgery, alongside roles in education, management and leadership, including a two-year period leading a specialist hospital in Shanghai.
His career has included senior clinical and academic positions at the University of Bristol, referral roles at Vale and Bath Referrals, and positions as Veterinary Advisor and Director for two of the UK’s largest veterinary groups. He has contributed extensively to veterinary education, helping develop programmes for Veterinary Nurses and the BSAVA Small Animal Surgery Postgraduate Certificate, as well as contributing to numerous journal articles and editorial roles.
Alasdair is an RCVS Recognised Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery and holds postgraduate qualifications in Small Animal Surgery, Radiology and Cardiology. In recognition of his significant contribution to veterinary medicine and education, he was awarded an RCVS Fellowship in 2017.
