Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy Recommendations

Hydrotherapy has been shown to have many benefits for patients such as allowing movement with reduced gravitational load on the joints, improve strength and cardiovascular health along with the hydrostatic benefits of water such as easing pain and inflammation. Underwater treadmills further allow the therapist to re-educate the gait of the patient; useful for cases which have been compensating for injuries and/or pain.

Hydrotherapy has its place with many conditions such as;

  • Post operatively (cruciate, patella luxation, fractures etc)
  • Pre operatively (weight loss, muscle strengthening) sometimes referred to as ‘prehab’
  • Patients suffering with osteoarthritis
  • Neurological conditions
  • Soft tissue injuries such as tendon and ligament strains and tears
  • Owners wanting to improve condition in their sporting dogs
